Four senior officials retire in Kohima after decades of state service

Kohima: Four senior officials wrapped up their state careers on June 30. The Planning and Transformation Department and the Nagaland Public Works Department bid farewell to these veterans during ceremonies in Kohima.

The Planning and Transformation Department honored Additional Development Commissioner Vilhouhunuo Sachu and Joint Development Commissioner N Likao Kikon at Hotel Japfu. Sachu started his government journey in 1995. Kikon joined in 1994. Both reached the mandatory retirement age of 60.

Secretary P Nungsangwapang Jamir praised their work. He said their contributions had strengthened the department over the past three decades. Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang sent a message of thanks. In his final address, Kikon encouraged his colleagues to maintain their work ethic. "Continue serving with sincerity and dedication," Kikon told the staff.

Separately, the NPWD held a farewell for Engineer-in-Chief Er K Imnajungba and Chief Engineer Er T Sao Sangtam at its local conference hall. The men urged younger engineers to stay committed to building infrastructure despite the pressures of the job. They cited faith and perseverance as key tools. Fellow officials honored the pair as capable leaders who left the department better than they found it.
