Kohima: Longtili C Sangtam, the former president of the Seyochung Village Students Union, provided a donation of essential medicines to the local Health and Wellness Centre on June 13. The contribution arrives as the facility manages a steady stream of patients, recording 129 outpatient visits in April and 90 during May 2026.
While the center remains active with monthly Village Health and Nutrition Day programs and routine antenatal check-ups, the facility is currently facing significant operational strain. The resident Auxiliary Nurse Midwife is managing the clinic alone while the Community Health Officer is away on a six-month maternity leave.
Addressing the staffing gap, the nurse noted the heavy workload caused by the high volume of visitors in the large village. She explained, "Since Seyochung is a large village, the number of visitors is quite high, especially these days. Running the centre alone is very difficult. I would like to request the concerned stakeholders to consider providing additional support staff during this period." The staff expressed appreciation for the donation, noting that the supplies were critical for maintaining local health services during this challenging period.
