Imphal: Manipur forest chief Anurag Bajpai launched the state-level 77th Van Mahotsav on Thursday. He gathered residents at the Chingkhu Mayai Leikai Community Hall in Imphal West to kick off the national Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0 campaign. It is a big job. The Forest Department plans to plant 1.5 million saplings across the state before the week ends.
Bajpai wants every single tree to survive. He told the crowd that Van Mahotsav is a celebration of forests and a collective commitment to environmental conservation. The effort focuses on fixing degraded areas and growing the green canopy in towns and cities. These new trees will help the state stand up against shifting weather patterns.
Success requires everyone to show up. Bajpai called on government offices, schools, and youth groups to dig in. He also thanked the boots on the ground for protecting natural resources. Local leaders, students, and forest officials attended the event to support the mission.
