Kohima: A massive fire gutted Vishnu Hardware on GS Road in Dimapur this Sunday. The blaze ripped through the property, leaving behind significant destruction. Six fire tenders fought the inferno to stop the spread. Two trucks arrived from West Fire Station, while four others came from Central Fire Station.
Local residents rejected a short circuit as the spark for the fire. Power had been out in the area since 10:30 a.m. because of scheduled transformer maintenance. Fire officials could not confirm what started the fire. The store owner estimated the total damage at between 45 and 50 lakh rupees. "The exact cause of the fire could not be ascertained," one fire official stated.
