Fire Destroys Nine Shops in Chümoukedima Market

Kohima: A large fire broke out early Wednesday morning at Yeputhomi Wednesday Market in Ikishe Model Village, Chümoukedima, destroying nine business establishments. Fire officials estimated the total property damage at approximately Rs. 60 lakh.

The Fire and Emergency Services received a distress call at 1:19 a.m. after the blaze began around 1 a.m. Responding teams deployed two fire tenders to the scene, where they successfully contained the flames and prevented the fire from reaching nearby buildings.

Authorities have confirmed that no one was injured in the incident. According to Fire and Emergency Services, "the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained." Investigation into the origins of the blaze remains ongoing.
