Federation of Haomee Calls for Unity Amid Growing Tensions in Manipur

Imphal: The Federation of Haomee (FoH) has issued an urgent appeal for peace, calling on all ethnic groups in Manipur to uphold their longstanding traditions of brotherhood and unity. The organization expressed deep concern over recent events that threaten to undermine the peaceful coexistence shared by communities in the hills and valleys for generations.

Dr. Heera Kabui, the vice president of FoH, warned that recent developments seem calculated to weaken social bonds. The group suggested that outside forces and vested interests have repeatedly attempted to stir division, a situation exacerbated by a growing lack of public trust in both state and central government leadership.

Addressing specific localized conflicts, the organization pointed to recent disputes between Nongpok Heirok Khul and Theiyong Kom Khul, as well as land disagreements involving Langathel and Maring Lamlong Khullen. FoH cautioned that these localized incidents must not be allowed to escalate into broader ethnic strife.

The federation has tasked village authorities and community leaders with taking proactive measures to resolve such disagreements through open communication. Dr. Kabui stated, "The organization urged village authorities and community leaders to take proactive steps to prevent further tensions and ensure that disputes are resolved peacefully."

FoH concluded by encouraging the public to remain vigilant against agitators. The group emphasized that prioritizing dialogue and mutual understanding remains the only viable path to ensuring stability and social cohesion across Manipur.
