Kohima: A federal delegation from the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner, India, touched down in the Chiephobozou block on July 16. They had work to do. Led by Joint Director Dr. Manoj Jain and Statistical Investigator Chankit Kumar, the team arrived from New Delhi to audit the first phase of Census 2027.
The group hit the ground running. They visited Nerhe Phezha, Botsa, Touphema village, and ward-5 of Chiephobozou urban area. They checked newly enumerated homes. They spoke with heads of households. Officials provided direct instructions to enumerators and supervisors tasked with the House Listing Operation.
Local leadership joined the inspection. The team worked alongside ADC and Sub-divisional Census Officer Vekusheyi Rhakho. Census Directorate Kohima representatives Dr. Kekrietshunuo Kire, Athisü Chachei, and DIET Chiechama lecturers Alemsongla Jamir and M. Ruthla Sangtam also participated in the day-long exercise.
The inspectors gathered at the ADC office to debrief. During the meeting, Dr. Jain defined the mission. He stated, "the purpose of the visit was to observe and inspect the ongoing 1st phase of Census-2027." The federal team is ensuring the house-listing process remains on track.
