Agartala: The Election Commission of India pushed back the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Tripura. The agency issued the order on September 9, 2026. This move clears the way for the TTAADC Village Committee elections.
State election officials requested the delay to stop the two processes from clashing. The new timeline sets January 1, 2027, as the qualifying date for voter registration. Preparations, including staff training and printing documents, start October 27 and run through November 5, 2026.
Booth Level Officers hit the streets after that. They will perform house-to-house verification from November 6 to December 5, 2026. Officials must finish rationalizing and moving polling stations by December 5. The draft electoral roll drops on December 12.
Public feedback starts immediately. Citizens have until January 10, 2027, to file claims and objections. Authorities will handle these disputes and notices until February 9, 2027. The final roll arrives February 15, 2027.
The original plan had the revision starting September 05 with a December 23, 2026 completion date. According to the official notification, "The revised timetable separates the intensive electoral-roll revision from the immediate election-related duties associated with the Village Committee polls." These local elections are slated for September 28.
