Imphal: The Extrajudicial Execution Victim Families Association, Manipur, marked its 17th foundation day on July 11 with sharp criticism for the state. Members gathered at Imphal's Palace Compound to pay tribute to the dead and air their grievances. The group says justice is failing.

President Renu Takhellambam pointed to a long trail of unresolved legal battles. The Supreme Court ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation to look into these fake encounters back in 2013, yet not a single security officer has seen the inside of a jail cell. She blames the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for blocking prosecution sanctions against central security forces.

Legal cases against over 100 Manipur Police personnel remain active. However, progress is slow and painful. Takhellambam hit out at the BJP for breaking 2017 election promises to repeal the Armed Forces Special Powers Act and push for accountability. She had a message for the political class: "We no longer believe in their words or expect any help from them."

The group also expressed alarm over the national goal to end insurgency by 2029. They fear the deadline might spark a fresh wave of state-sponsored violence. EEVFAM remains committed to the fight. They are not giving up on the courts.
