Shillong: East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal honored regional rescue teams on Monday. He serves as the chairperson for the District Disaster Management Authority. The ceremony recognized personnel from the State Disaster Response Force, Fire and Emergency Services, and EMRI-108.
These crews performed a high-stakes rescue at Lapalang. Their work saved lives. Baranwal praised the courage and professionalism shown by the Incident Response Teams. He noted that their quick, coordinated work kept property damage low across the district.
Baranwal highlighted the grit of these frontline workers. During the event, he remarked, "The recognition is a tribute to the contribution of frontline responders in ensuring public safety." He pushed for tighter coordination between agencies to keep the district ready for the next crisis.
