DPDB Kohima Launches Development Initiative for Ward 16

Kohima: The District Planning and Development Board of Kohima officially launched the 2025-26 Ward Adoption Programme for Ward 16 on June 10. The initiative serves Lerie, Lerie Chazou, New Minister’s Hill, and New Reserve Colony, which fall under the 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency.

MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso addressed the gathering at the Lerie Junction Waiting Shed. He commended the collaborative efforts of local government departments and pledged his commitment to supporting progress across the area. Addressing the crowd, he stated, "I would contribute to the best of my ability towards the progress of the area and other parts of Kohima." He also announced that a mega medical camp is scheduled for the ward on June 27.

Dr. Riku Khutso, the EAC Sadar and Convener of the Ward Adoption Committee, outlined the broad scope of the project. The action plan includes essential services such as National Food Security Act beneficiary registrations, water supply restoration, solar street light installations, and solid waste management initiatives. Kohima College will assist by hosting skill classes in government schools and improving the Lerie Heliport area.

Local representatives voiced their support for the collaborative effort. Ward Councillor Ane-Ü Khaming welcomed the initiative as a boost for grassroots development. Vikehiekho Kintso, the Chairman of New Reserve Colony, confirmed that the four colonies within the ward are prepared to work closely with the involved departments to ensure the success of the planned activities.
