Dimapur Youth Groups Rally to Tackle Local Challenges

Kohima: Can Youth held its first Youth Ambassadors Conclave in Dimapur on July 4. Community leaders and local students gathered to build support networks. They tackled substance abuse and school dropouts. The event theme pushed for unity and shared leadership.

DUCCF President Zasivikho Zakiesato spoke at the event. He told the students to look beyond their own front doors. He demanded discipline for future success. Zakiesato argued that a stronger society relies on people working as one. He noted, "Under unity, there are three Ps: Peace, Progress, and Prosperity."

DMC Councillor V Khekato Awomi also attended. He challenged the stigma surrounding kids who leave school early. Hard work beats a diploma any day. To prove it, he pledged full scholarships for underprivileged students chasing careers in medicine or civil service. Awomi said, "When you educate a child... you are not just changing one life, you are changing an entire family, and ultimately, an entire community."

Founder Jenpu Rhakho Rongmei started the NGO after his brother died from substance abuse. He credits his own mentors for helping him pull through personal struggles. The group now assists dropouts and people in recovery. Rongmei urged the room to ditch the race for perfection. He wants them to aim for sincerity instead.
