Dimapur Municipal Council Raises Monthly Residential Sanitation Fee

Kohima: The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) is set to increase the monthly sanitation fee for all residential households within its jurisdiction. Starting July 1, 2026, residents will pay Rs 100 per month, up from the current rate of Rs 80.

The council finalized this change following a meeting with local Civil Society Organisations on March 30, 2026. According to the DMC, the adjustment is required to keep pace with the increasing expenses associated with waste collection, transportation, disposal, and general sanitation management.

In an official notification, the council urged local residents to support the move to ensure quality upkeep. The DMC stated, "The council said the increase has been necessitated by the rising cost of waste collection, transportation, disposal and sanitation management services." Officials have requested that citizens provide their cooperation by paying the revised fees on time to help maintain efficient city services.
