Kohima: Dimapur observed World Blood Donor Day with events held at the District Hospital and the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research. The commemoration brought together students, medical professionals, and members of local organizations to promote the importance of voluntary blood donation.
During the event at the District Hospital, attendees included representatives from various groups and personnel from the CRPF 78th Battalion, Zubza. Medical Superintendent Dr. George Thirah praised the participants for their dedication, encouraging them to continue the goodwill mission of voluntary blood donation for the service of humanity. A donation drive followed the main program at the hospital blood center.
Separately, the Nagaland Running Club collaborated with CIHSR to host a dedicated donation camp on their premises. Members of the club participated in the drive to highlight the life-saving impact of blood donation. This effort followed a similar initiative on June 13, where 20 personnel from the Assam Rifles donated blood to bolster the hospital reserves.
Officials at CIHSR stated that these contributions are vital for maintaining supplies. They noted that the donated blood would play a crucial role in saving lives during emergencies, surgeries and critical medical situations.
