Kohima: Health officials in Dimapur met on Friday to coordinate an intensified response to malaria, aligning local efforts with national elimination goals. Dr. Ayangla Saku, District Programme Officer, chaired the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme session at the Chief Medical Officer's conference hall.
Because June is observed as Anti-Malaria Month, the program is prioritizing community outreach, consistent surveillance, and the reliable distribution of essential medical supplies. Participants focused on improving the quality of laboratory services and strengthening the coordination between field staff and supervisors.
Technical training remained a core component of the review. Kikolul Khieya of NVBDCP Dimapur provided instruction on the correct application of insecticides for focal spraying. He advised staff that the chemical must first be made into a paste before dilution to ensure effectiveness. Additionally, Heanglih T. Konyak presented a comparative analysis of recent case trends and outlined the specific responsibilities of various staff members in the field.
The meeting drew senior leadership, including Dr. Imnapokim, Joint Director and State Programme Officer for NVBDCP Nagaland. The officials provided technical guidance to ensure district strategies align with national standards for case management and vector control. Attendees concluded the session by committing to translate these strategies into action throughout the month to protect the community.
