Shillong: The Civil Society Women’s Organisation is pushing Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to fix a massive staffing crisis at the Umsning Community Health Centre. The facility currently relies on just one doctor and one nurse to handle every patient who walks through the door.
This thin skeleton crew cannot manage emergency cases while running the Outpatient Department. Patients are stuck waiting for hours to get basic care. CSWO secretary Christabell Wanniang told reporters that the facility is currently operating with only one doctor and one nurse on duty.
Locals keep filing complaints about the lack of staff. While the state government claims it struggles to recruit and keep medical professionals, these empty positions persist. The health department remains under pressure to fill these gaps before the situation worsens.
