Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma officially opened the Early Childhood Development Implementation Science Workshop in Shillong on June 1. The event gathered policymakers, experts, and development partners to refine how the state supports families and young children.
Sangma emphasized that child welfare cannot be handled by a single government branch. He argued that success requires a unified approach involving health, education, nutrition, and economic sectors. The Chief Minister noted that true development is measured by tangible improvements in the daily lives of citizens rather than just administrative policies.
Focusing on evidence-based strategies, the workshop aims to identify practical ways to strengthen services across Meghalaya. Sangma stressed that focusing on a child's early years creates lasting benefits for future education, health, and community well-being. He concluded that investing in the state's youth today is essential for building a stronger and more prosperous future for the region.
