Kohima: Communities across Nagaland ramped up public service efforts this week. Middle Bayavu Colony residents tackled trash on September 26, clearing debris from footpaths, drains, and roadsides in Kohima. Across town, the T. Khel Youth Organization and Tsütuonuomia Khel Council held a joint social work day and get-together. MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso joined the labor.
The Airports Authority of India donated a TATA Motors truck to Darogapathar village on September 23. MKS Bordoloi, the Regional Executive Director for the Northeast, handed over the vehicle for use as a sanitation truck. Local officials from Chümoukedima joined the ceremony to mark the effort.
Pharmacists gathered in Dimapur on September 25 for World Pharmacist Day. The Dimapur District Pharmacists Union and the Nagaland Pharmacists Association focused on drug safety. Guest speaker Lutovi Phucho noted the day was about "Strengthening Drug Safety and Quality through Effective Collaboration between Pharmacists and the Drugs Control Cell."
Health initiatives also took center stage. The 1st NAP Battalion in Chümoukedima hosted a briefing on government health insurance schemes on September 24. Meanwhile, the ICFAI University Nagaland health club held a seminar on tuberculosis prevention, and Nagaland University students held a blood drive at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima to mark NSS Foundation Day. Dr. Avila Sangtam told donors, "Donors receive free health screenings, including haemoglobin testing, blood pressure monitoring, and screening for HIV-1 and HIV-2, syphilis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and malaria."
Elsewhere, the PHED in Zunheboto cleaned the Lizu Naghuto View Point on September 26 for the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign. In Dimapur, the Jagannath Seva Samiti provided grocery aid to fire victims in Kuda-B. C-Edge College also hosted a pre-observation session for World Tourism Day, focusing on how artificial intelligence is changing the travel industry.
