Kohima: Chumoukedima officials met September 10 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall. Zhaleo Rio, advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, chaired the session. PHED Minister Jacob Zhimomi also attended. They reviewed past minutes and the ongoing Census and Special Intensive Revision exercises.
Rio demanded strict attendance from all officers. He wants better outreach regarding government schemes. Officials are currently building new district offices for Chumoukedima and Niuland. Rio also targeted waste management. He ordered strict waste segregation and coordination between the local council and the public. Construction on new Sewage Treatment Plants and Material Recovery Facilities aims to cut down on trash.
Zhimomi pushed for transparency. "Minister Jacob Zhimomi reminded departments of their responsibility to appraise elected representatives about development activities." He insists that officials follow guidelines and coordinate closely across both districts.
The board recommended three new groups for registration: Empowerment Hub for Disability, Zutovi Village, and the Chumoukedima District Pensioners Association. They also sent a request to the PWD to widen roads and fix drainage on NH-29 between 7th Mile Model Village and Seithekema C. The fix aims to stop persistent flooding.
Departments delivered several presentations. T. Lemlila Sangtam and P. James Swu spoke on waste management. Imti from the Department of Posts covered Postal Life Insurance and GDS Recruitment 2026. SDO Shreyansee Jain presented on the Dr. Ambedkar Medical Aid Scheme and Reform Utsav.
