CAP Leader B.K. Pokhrel Jailed for 14 Days Over Social Media Threat

Gangtok: Darjeeling authorities remanded Citizen Action Party leader B.K. Pokhrel to 14 days in judicial custody today. The move follows his arrest for a threatening social media post aimed at academician Dr. M.P. Lama. He sits in a cell now.

The trouble started when the youth wing of the Indian Gorkha Janshakti Front filed a formal complaint at the Darjeeling Sadar Police Station. They pointed to specific remarks Pokhrel shared on Facebook. Police picked him up and dragged him before a local judge.

The Citizen Action Party quickly moved to protect its reputation. Officials claimed Pokhrel acted on his own. "CAP has distanced itself from the remarks, stating that Pokhrel had made the comments in his individual capacity." The party also formed a disciplinary committee to dig into the mess.

The court will decide what happens next. For now, the legal process dictates the pace. Pokhrel stays locked up while investigators move forward with the case.
