Can Youth Equips Emergency Responders in Dimapur

Kohima: Can Youth handed out helmets and reflective jackets to Community First Responders on July 18 in Dimapur. The distribution event capped off a training cycle held throughout 2024 and 2025. This project reached volunteers across the Chümoukedima and Dimapur districts. It operated through a partnership with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority.

Founder Jenpu Rhakho Rongmei addressed the group during the ceremony. He noted that the joint effort built practical skills and essential knowledge. He told the volunteers, "disaster preparedness is a shared responsibility." He pushed the team to keep serving their neighbors with integrity and compassion.

P Inaka Sema, an assistant manager at the NSDMA, praised the volunteers for their hard work. He acted as the Nodal Officer for the District Disaster Management Authority in Dimapur. He insisted that responders protect themselves before rushing to help others. To him, the gear serves as a mark of dignity.

Gaihemlu Gonmei chaired the event. The agenda included a look back at the training program’s progress. Prodip Dey shared how the course boosted his confidence and skill set. Dr. Gaihianlung Kamei from the Rongmei Baptist Church gave the invocation. Nuyielu Nyekha finished the program by offering a vote of thanks to the officials, civil society members, and guests in attendance.
