Shillong: BSF Director General Praveen Kumar touched down in Meghalaya on September 12. He arrived to audit operational readiness along the Indo-Bangladesh international boundary. The chief held a commanders meeting in Shillong with DIsG and Commandants. The Inspector General of the Meghalaya Frontier also sat in on the talks. They spent the session mapping out surveillance strategies and new security tactics. The DG demanded constant vigilance from his men.
He traveled to the Jowai Sector next. Forward area commanders gave him a full rundown on the ground situation and current border arrangements. He then addressed the troops at a Prahari Sammelan. Praveen Kumar told the rank and file: "praising their commitment to safeguarding the border despite adverse weather and challenging terrain." He reminded everyone to keep their professional standards high and walked them through new government welfare programs.
The DG shifted his focus to state cooperation after the field visit. He met with the Governor of Meghalaya to talk about better border domination. He also sat down with the state Director General of Police. The two discussed ways to sharpen inter-agency coordination to build a tougher front against threats.
