Agartala: Thieves hit Deb Varieties in Kalyanpur Market late Tuesday night. The store sits right next to the Kalyanpur Gramin Bank. Shop owner Shankar Deb, a resident of Bathekha village, found his business ransacked when he arrived Wednesday morning. The burglars sliced through the shop's tin walls. They hauled away cash, various goods, and an inverter.

This shop keeps seven people fed. The break-in has terrified the local business community. Kalyanpur Police arrived on site shortly after the report. Officers confirmed they held routine night patrols, yet the criminals still bypassed security. Police sources said, "We have started inquiries and expect progress soon."

Locals are furious. They point to block-installed CCTV cameras that fail to cover the area effectively. Residents claim the devices are broken or left unmonitored, leaving shops exposed to crime. Traders now demand better security and accountability for the lapses.
