Gangtok: The Bharatiya Janata Party expanded its footprint in Sikkim as 62 families formally joined the party during an event in Yuksom, Geyzing district. State President D.R. Thapa led the delegation, joined by State Vice President N.K. Subba, General Secretary Dinesh Chandra Nepal, Geyzing District President Digum Limboo, and Mandal President Kinzang Sherap Bhutia.
During the program, Thapa emphasized the impact of welfare schemes and development projects initiated by the central government. He encouraged both veteran party workers and new recruits to collaborate on initiatives aimed at the empowerment of the Sikkim population. Subba and Bhutia also detailed the party's ongoing grassroots efforts and recent organisational growth across the constituency.
As part of the visit, Thapa distributed Ayushman and e-Shram cards to eligible beneficiaries. These cards provide recipients with social security benefits and access to healthcare coverage of up to 5 lakh rupees. The delegation began their trip with a visit to the historic Norbugang Monastery, the former capital of Sikkim, to offer prayers for both regional development and the advancement of their organization.
