Kohima: ATMA Shamator launched a string of farming programs across the Chessore block this week. The agency aims to lift productivity through hands-on field training. Workers showed locals how to manage bush growth, treat banana bunches, and apply organic manure.
Staff demonstrated new ways to stop pests and planted sweet corn, zucchini, and capsicum. Officials also set up Farm Schools in Huker and Chessore villages. These hubs push farmer-to-farmer learning. They want better crops.
Capacity sessions focused on growing mushrooms and coffee. The team also organized Farmer Interest Groups to help neighbors work together. They handed out seed money to these groups to keep the momentum going. As the agency noted, the goal is to "promote improved farming practices and enhance productivity."
