Guwahati: Police arrested the assistant manager of the Lalacherra Tea Estate in the Sribhumi district of Assam. Officers took Faiz Amir into custody after a woman accused him of sexual assault. The suspect is originally from the Samastipur district of Bihar.
The victim went to the manager's bungalow to provide assistance. She claims the man forced himself upon her. She eventually broke free and reported the incident to the authorities. "Following the complaint, we registered a case under the relevant sections of the law," said Additional Superintendent of Police for Crime Trinayan Bhuyan.
Amir now sits in judicial custody. Investigators sent the woman for a medical examination. Police continue to process the evidence and work through the details of the alleged rape.
