Imphal: The Assam Rifles facilitated an educational tour for thirteen students and three teachers from Manipur to attend the SPIC MACAY International Convention at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Running from May 25 to May 31, 2026, the trip aimed to promote national integration and empower local youth.
The delegation included representatives from ARPS Keithelmanbi, ARPS Mantripukhri, and Manipur University. Their journey began on May 23 with a ceremony at Lok Bhavan attended by the Governor of Manipur. Throughout the convention, the group participated in workshops, yoga sessions, and programs led by masters of Indian classical music and traditional arts.
A formal flagging-in ceremony took place on June 4 at Ashoka Hall to mark the group's return. Senior officers, including the Deputy Inspector General for the South, met with the students to discuss their experiences. During this session, participants shared how they managed to overcome challenges while engaging with peers from across the country.
Assam Rifles leadership praised the group for their active involvement in the event. Officials reaffirmed their ongoing commitment to providing developmental opportunities for youth in the region, noting that the initiative was aimed at fostering "cultural understanding, confidence and leadership among young participants from Manipur."
