Assam Rifles Provides Medical and Relief Aid to 720 Displaced People in Manipur

Imphal: The Assam Rifles recently launched a humanitarian outreach mission to support 720 displaced individuals living in camps across Manipur. Teams distributed essential household goods and school supplies at relief sites in Lamboi Khongnangkhong, Sagoltongba, and Sownbung.

Brigadier Prityush Kumar, the Commander of Headquarters 9 Sector Assam Rifles, visited the camps to assess the situation and speak with residents. He engaged with families to understand their primary concerns and assured them of continued support. During the visit, the military provided families with tiffin sets and kitchen utensils alongside stationery for children to help maintain their educational progress.

A mobile medical camp operated from 9 am to 2 pm, featuring staff from the Manipur Health Department and Assam Rifles. The clinical team included medical officers, nursing staff, pharmacists, and a dental surgeon. Patients received specialist consultations for dental, general medicine, and gynaecological needs, supplemented by free medication and health education.

Organisers emphasized that the initiative aimed to strengthen community resilience in the face of ongoing displacement. One official stated, "The initiative reflects the broader humanitarian role undertaken by Assam Rifles in supporting communities across the North East through integrated healthcare, education, and welfare interventions aimed at improving resilience and assisting populations affected by conflict and displacement."
