Assam Rifles Karate Team Dominates All India Independence Cup

Guwahati: The Assam Rifles karate team dominated the 20th All India Independence Cup Karate Championship. They hauled in 18 medals at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. The three-day event ran from August 7 to 9. The DGAR Karate Team claimed nine gold, three silver, and six bronze medals.

The squad finished at the top of the leaderboard in both senior men and women categories. They also secured first place in the overall senior standings. Their performance displayed technical precision and grit.

Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, the Director General of Assam Rifles, praised the winners. He cited their training and focus. The General said, "He commended the athletes for their dedication, hard work and sporting spirit, which he said contributed to the team's success at the championship."

This win marks another high point for the force. Assam Rifles continues to push for peak physical fitness and excellence among its personnel.
