Guwahati: Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Borah pushed for faster digital progress during meetings at Janata Bhawan on Thursday. He gathered experts to hammer out the standardisation of the Assamese script for Unicode. The goal is simple. They want the language to work seamlessly across all global tech systems.

Borah told officials to keep the momentum high. He wants regular updates to ensure nothing stalls. The minister noted that securing proper recognition is "essential for preserving the language while expanding its digital footprint across national and global platforms."

The government also examined plans for an OTT platform. This space would host films and content from Assam. It targets a wider audience reach. Local filmmakers and artists could showcase their work beyond the Northeast region. Officials showed the minister a prototype model during the session. Dr. B. Kalyan Chakravarthy and Director Rahul Chandra Das attended the review to coordinate these efforts.
