Guwahati: Investigators are hunting a killer in Khetri. On Sunday, September 6, police found 17-year-old Gandip Lahon Sharma dead inside his father’s residential quarters. The boy was a student at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Sonapur.
His parents discovered the grim scene upon returning home. They had taken their younger son to music school, leaving Gandip alone. His hands and legs were tied. Doctors later declared him dead at a local hospital.
Manoj Sharma, the boy's father, works as a compounder at the state hospital where the family lives. Local police and a senior team swarmed the area to collect evidence. They have not pinned down a motive or a suspect yet. Residents are reeling. "Police officials, including a senior team, reached the spot and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing," according to reports from the site.

New reports indicate the attackers tied Sharma to a metal grill before beating him. He was found unconscious at the scene and taken to a district hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Investigators have recovered two handwritten notes from the boy's pockets. One note reads, "Thank you for everything you did till now," while the second says, "And sorry for everything I did till now." Officials are currently verifying the handwriting to determine if they were written by the victim or someone else.
While the initial probe focused on a violent assault, the discovery of the notes has led police to weigh the possibility of suicide. Detectives stress that no final conclusion has been reached, and they are keeping the investigation broad until the authenticity of the notes is confirmed.
