Guwahati: Assam Police successfully intercepted a massive consignment of illicit drugs in Cachar, seizing 60,000 Yaba tablets during a routine vehicle check. Officials estimate the street value of the narcotics to be approximately Rs 18 crore.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the operation on Friday, describing the seizure as a significant victory in the state's ongoing fight against drug trafficking. He commended the law enforcement team for their vigilance, noting that while criminal networks continue to evolve their methods, the police force remains committed to staying ahead of them.

Authorities have initiated a follow-up investigation to identify the individuals behind the shipment. Police aim to map the full supply chain and apprehend everyone involved in the transportation and distribution of the seized drugs.
