Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu opened a new online Provincialisation Management System portal this Thursday. The state launched the system on July 23 to process applications for venture school provincialisation and the Gurudakshina Scheme. It is a fresh start. These actions follow the guidelines set out in the 2025 Amendment Act.
Pegu addressed the 16th Assam Legislative Assembly during the budget session. He answered Starred Question No. 183 from Samaguri MLA Tanzil Hussain. The minister confirmed that previous services fell under the 2017 Act and its 2018 amendment. Now, the government needs more data. The total count of eligible non-provincialised schools remains unknown until the portal closes and officials finish verifying the submitted files.
Hussain pressed the minister for a hard timeline regarding teacher status and potential interim pay. Pegu shut down the request for immediate cash. He stated, "The government would take an appropriate decision after the online application phase concludes and the submitted applications undergo scrutiny and verification." There is no current legal path to provide financial aid to those awaiting status updates.
