Guwahati: Assam now hosts 17.29 lakh registered micro, small and medium enterprises. The surge signals a shift in the state industrial output. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the update on X this week to highlight the jump in local entrepreneurship.

The government pushed for this growth to steady the local economy. Officials believe more shops and factories mean fewer social headaches. "There has been a manifold rise in the number of registered MSMEs in Assam over the last few years," Sarma said.

The state wants these numbers to climb even higher. Sarma claims that every new business acts as a direct investment in the region. He insists these companies provide the jobs and stability required to turn Assam into a top investment hub for Northeast India.

The administration plans to keep the momentum going. They aim to back these entrepreneurs with better infrastructure and friendlier rules. By cutting red tape, the state hopes to drive inclusive growth and keep local industries healthy.
