Assam Man Arrested With Heroin at Agartala Station

Guwahati: Agartala Government Railway Police arrested a 30-year-old man at the city railway station. They caught him with heroin worth Rs 2 lakh. Gautam Pal is from Nagarpara in the Hojai district of Assam. He lived near the Lumding Police Station.

Officers spotted Pal on Platform Number 1 around 5 pm. A team led by Sub-Inspector Biswajit Das stopped the man. They grew suspicious during a routine operation. The search turned up 25.95 grams of heroin hidden inside three soap cases. Police also grabbed a smartphone, his Aadhaar card, and a black shoulder bag.

Agartala GRP Officer-in-Charge Raju Bhowmik confirmed the arrest. "Police are now investigating the source of the heroin and are probing whether Pal was acting alone or was linked to a wider drug trafficking network." Authorities filed a case under Sections 21(b) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
