Guwahati: Assam Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah chaired his first review meeting in Goalpara on June 9, just two days after being appointed as the district Guardian Minister. The meeting took place at the Deputy Commissioner’s office and included senior officials such as Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Timung and District Development Commissioner Pranab Kumar Bora.
A primary goal of the session was evaluating the administration's readiness for the upcoming monsoon season and potential flood threats. The minister also assessed the progress of key departments, including Health and Family Welfare, Education, Agriculture, and Public Works. He reviewed the implementation of various government schemes to ensure services reach the local population effectively.
During the proceedings, Mallabaruah emphasized the need for administrative accountability. He instructed officials to prioritize district development and remove obstacles preventing citizens from accessing welfare benefits. Baruah directed all government officials to prioritise the overall development of Goalpara district and ensure that citizens do not face difficulties in accessing government services and welfare benefits.
To improve public engagement, the minister ordered the appointment of a nodal officer from the Assam Civil Service. This official will manage public grievances and suggestions, acting as a direct link between the community and the Guardian Minister’s office. This meeting marks the start of a renewed focus on coordinated service delivery and proactive crisis management within the region.
