Guwahati: Bishu Limbu crushed the odds. A farmer’s son from the Tinsukia district in Assam, he secured an All India Rank of 7,320 in the 2026 NEET-UG medical entrance exam. He hauled in a score of 610 points despite facing severe financial hardship at his family home in Ketetong 2 No. Nakang Pathar.
His parents, Foud and Om Kumari Limbu, raised him in the 83rd Margherita Legislative Assembly constituency. Resources were scarce. The path was narrow. Yet, the student remained fixed on his goal of entering the medical field.
Locals are celebrating his high mark as a major win for the Margherita region. Neighbors view him as a rising role model for students struggling with limited cash. Bishu credits his support system for the win. He looks forward to his medical career, stating, "I hope to serve society as a doctor in the future."
