Assam Enforces Strict Security for NEET-UG Re-Examination

Shillong: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has finalized security protocols for the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled for June 21, 2026. The state will host the exam across 88 centers in 17 districts to accommodate over 43,000 candidates.

The government is implementing a zero tolerance policy to maintain the integrity of the testing process. Officials will enforce Section 144 within a 100-meter radius of every exam center, and police will provide round-the-clock protection. All venues will operate under constant CCTV surveillance, and candidates will undergo dual-layer frisking upon entry.

To ensure the security of the testing materials, military officials will oversee the transport of question papers to each center. The state government has also pledged to support students by providing free travel to their respective exam locations for those holding valid admit cards.

Regarding these precautions, the chief minister stated, "Assam has always taken strict measures to ensure that there are no loopholes in the entire process. I have instructed officials to continue with our monitoring and ensure exams are held in a free and fair manner."

State Chief Secretary Ravi Kota previously reviewed these arrangements alongside district officials to ensure compliance with National Testing Agency guidelines. Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police have been tasked with personally supervising the readiness of each center.
