Guwahati: Assam down town University hosted a special screening of five award-winning documentaries at the Building 3 auditorium of down town Hospital in Guwahati. The event showcased the institution's reach into film production and cultural preservation. It drew a crowd of students, academics, filmmakers, and media professionals.
The lineup featured Harinarayan, Wangala, Debadhwani, Devadasi, and Fagu Khele Karunamoi. Four of these films, excluding Harinarayan, were edited in-house at the university. Prof. Bandana Dutta and Gariasi Dutta produced the projects, while Utpal Datta directed the work. The films focus on heritage and community traditions found across India.
Harinarayan previously earned national recognition for the university. The screening served as a hub for debate regarding the power of film to document history. Organizers pushed for more social awareness through visual media. AdtU stated, "Through such initiatives, it will continue to encourage creative excellence and support impactful storytelling that reflects the rich cultural heritage of the region and the nation."
