Itanagar: Flood waters in Arunachal Pradesh receded on Saturday as clear skies provided a much-needed break for the battered state. State Emergency Operation Centre officials confirmed no new casualties or major infrastructure damage occurred in the last 24 hours. Only one minor flood incident hit Keyi Panyor district during that window.

The damage remains massive. Floods, flash floods, and landslides impacted 305 villages across 222 circles, leaving 92,294 people in a lurch. Four people are dead. Twenty-one others suffered injuries. Two women missing after a flash flood in Keyi Panyor remain unaccounted for. Rescue crews are still looking for them.

Storms destroyed 498 homes and chewed up 330 hectares of farmland. Critical infrastructure also took a hit: 121 roads, 13 bridges, and 184 water supply schemes need urgent repairs. The Hoj-Potin stretch of National Highway-13 is still shut down. A state official noted that while the weather has improved, the overall impact is high. "The cumulative impact of floods, flash floods and landslides over the past several days remains extensive."

Relief teams keep working. Two camps in Keyi Panyor shelter 150 people. The Civil Aviation Department flew four helicopter sorties on Saturday, hauling 11.5 metric tonnes of rice to isolated villages in Lower Siang. Authorities are scrambling to fix power lines and water pipes. The India Meteorological Department lifted all warnings for Sunday, but the break will be short. A yellow watch begins July 6 for eastern and central districts, with more heavy rain and thunderstorms expected through July 8.
