Arunachal MP Opens Inaugural North East Sports Meet in Delhi

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Tagak officially opened the first Delhi and NCR North East Sports Meet 2026 on July 31. The ceremony took place in the capital. Attendees included Delhi Olympic Association President Saroj Sharma, CEO Kuldeep Vats, and Meet Chairman Manash Deka.

The 7 Sisters Foundation organized the event alongside the Delhi Olympic Association. They want to unite Northeast athletes living in the capital region. Organizers hope to boost youth empowerment and sportsmanship. Tagak spoke to the crowd about his vision for the country.

"Culture and sports serve as powerful forces that connect people and strengthen national integration," Tagak said. He stressed that respecting regional identity builds better bonds. These events help people from different areas live in harmony while working toward national growth.

Tagak met with students and athletes from across the Northeast. He told them to train hard and keep their focus sharp. The MP praised their grit and drive. He expects these young competitors to shape the future of Indian sports. He thanked the volunteers, sponsors, and organizers for their work to pull off the tournament.
