Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik visited Jarbom Gamlin Government Law College near Itanagar on May 26 to advise students on the future of the legal profession. He emphasized that law should be treated as a public trust dedicated to serving common citizens with passion and integrity.

Addressing the evolving legal landscape, the governor noted that technological advances like digital courts, e-filing systems, and virtual hearings are reshaping the field. He encouraged students to balance their legal expertise with empathy and ethics while keeping pace with modern constitutional developments. Parnaik specifically highlighted the need for proficiency in areas such as cyber laws, environmental protection, tribal rights, and constitutional governance.

The governor shared his vision for the institution to become a hub for legal scholarship in the Northeast. He recommended that the college integrate AI-assisted research and community outreach into its curriculum to better align with national goals. He also urged faculty members to foster academic excellence through innovative teaching and mentorship.

During the visit, Parnaik spoke about the importance of maintaining a clean and disciplined campus environment. Officials including Education Commissioner Amjad Tak and college principal Dr. Gijo George were present for the event, where the governor reiterated that the primary goal of any legal career must always be the promotion of truth and fairness.
