Arson Sparks New Violence at Kanto Sabal

Imphal: Violence erupted today in Kanto Sabal after Kuki miscreants set fire to six houses owned by Meitei residents. Firefighters saved four structures, but two burned to the ground. Panicked locals rushed to the scene to stop the blaze, but Central security forces blocked them with tear gas. The standoff forced officials to scramble as tempers flared.

Residents are furious at the authorities for failing to stop the arson. Locals watched the fires spread while soldiers stood nearby. "Why didn't the security stopped the miscreants from burning the houses?" one witness asked.

MLA Heikham Dingo slammed the security failure near the local Army Garrison. He told reporters the attack shows a major lapse in protection for the area. While reports claim three suspects were picked up, officials have not confirmed any arrests. Dingo is now pressing Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh for immediate action to secure the region.

Intelligence reports suggest more trouble is brewing. Officials expect the National Investigation Agency and the CRPF to launch raids in Leilon Vaiphai. In response, local women staged sit-ins to block troop movements. Military command ordered a one-day leave for Meitei and Naga workers inside the Leimakhong station. Extra troops now guard the Khonsakul to L. Vaiphai corridor to prevent further chaos.
