Armed Attack Leaves Leikot Village in Flames as Manipur Violence Spreads

Imphal: Violence flared in Manipur’s Noney district Tuesday morning. Suspected NSCN-IM cadres stormed Leikot Kuki Village around 5 a.m. The attackers brought heavy firepower. They used automatic weapons and mortar shells to overpower local defenders.

Local volunteers stood their ground with only licensed single-barrel firearms. They could not hold back the assault. The gunmen soon torched the village, leaving a trail of destruction behind. This pre-dawn raid follows similar attacks in Kamjong district, where Phaimol Kuki Village was recently burned.

The Kuki Inpi JTN condemned the violence. They called the raid an "unprovoked act of aggression" against civilians. The group argued that inadequate security allowed the militants to strike without consequences.

The organization is now demanding action from the Central and Manipur governments. They want a full investigation and better security across the region. Leaders warned that the state must hold the attackers accountable or risk further destabilizing the area. The Kuki Inpi JTN remains committed to defending their community until peace returns.
