Imphal: The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has launched a protest march to demand the safe return of six individuals abducted on May 13, 2026. The procession began at the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong office in Ukhrul on June 4, drawing hundreds of students and community members who are marching along National Highway 202 toward Makhan village to meet the families of the missing.

This mobilization follows the expiration of an ultimatum issued to the Government of Manipur to provide information regarding the victims. The six individuals were reportedly abducted in broad daylight at Leilon Vaiphei by KNF(P) cadres, allegedly with the assistance of local villagers. ANSAM leadership expressed deep frustration over the government's lack of action regarding the case.

During an emergency assembly held on June 3, the organization noted its dissatisfaction with the lack of progress. The group stated, "The prolonged silence and lack of visible progress have further intensified the anxiety and suffering of the victim's families and the Naga people at large."

In addition to the march, ANSAM is preparing for further forms of intensified agitation. The executive council plans to form an action committee featuring former leaders to oversee the response. Furthermore, the association is beginning consultations with stakeholders to discuss the potential for a broader boycott of the state government. ANSAM officials maintained that they remain committed to peaceful and democratic methods until the hostages are returned to their families.
