Kohima: The Angami Students’ Union is calling on all tribal bodies and citizens in Kohima district to join a peaceful demonstration on June 19, 2026. The protest seeks justice regarding a sexual harassment court case involving Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland officer Reny Wilfred.
Acting on a directive from the Angami Women’s Organization, the student union aims to foster a unified response to the issue. The demonstration will take place at the Old MLA Hostel Junction starting at 10:00 AM. Participants are requested to wear traditional attire to highlight their collective heritage while advocating for workplace safety and dignity.
ASU President Diezevisie Nakhro and General Secretary Rajuselie Chucha issued a statement condemning the alleged behavior as a move that introduces a “foreign character” into the societal fabric. The organization emphasized that workplace safety and community dignity are fundamental rights that remain “absolute and non-negotiable.”
Organizers are asking all community members to maintain high standards of civic discipline throughout the event. In their official statement, the union urged the public to act with resolve, noting that “we must stand together in an orderly and dignified manner to defend the rule of law and safeguard a better future.”
