Shillong: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to launch the Land Port Management System in New Delhi on June 9. This initiative marks a major effort to digitize border infrastructure by integrating cargo, passenger, and regulatory processes into a single unified platform. The government aims to modernize operations at land ports across India, ensuring they meet the high digital standards currently found at airports and seaports.

The platform enables real-time information exchange between government agencies and private operators to reduce delays and improve transparency. It features end-to-end digital processing, including slot booking, payments, tracking, and single-window clearances. Furthermore, the system is integrated with national platforms such as ICEGATE and the Unified Logistics Interface Platform to ensure seamless coordination. Officials described LPMS as a "significant milestone in India's efforts to build a technology-enabled border management network" designed to support trade, connectivity, and national security.

Alongside the digital rollout, Shah will inaugurate new accommodation facilities for stakeholders at the Dawki Land Port in Meghalaya and the Srimantapur Land Port in Tripura. These improvements reflect the government's focus on the Northeast, where strategic land ports connect India with neighboring countries. The Land Ports Authority of India currently manages 15 ports across several international borders, playing a vital role in the movement of goods and people.
