Kohima: The Ao Students Conference held a consultative meeting with the District Child Protection Unit and Child Helpline 1098 on Friday in Mokokchung. The session aimed to improve how local agencies handle urgent issues affecting students, such as bullying, child abuse, and conflicts within schools or hostels.

Representatives from the student organization and protection agencies agreed that creating a safe environment requires a team effort. This approach will involve parents, teachers, and school administrators working alongside welfare authorities. Officials from Child Helpline 1098 highlighted the value of early intervention, noting that data from recent calls suggests a need for more proactive measures.

The group plans to move forward by launching new awareness programs and improving how schools and hostels are monitored. By increasing the frequency of their consultations, the organizations intend to build a stronger network for reporting and addressing misconduct. The Ao Students Conference committed to maintaining this partnership to better protect children across the district.
