AASU Launches Financial Aid Scheme for Assam's UPSC Aspirants

Guwahati: The All Assam Students' Union has introduced a financial assistance program to support local students competing in the Civil Services Examination. Under this initiative, 25 candidates who successfully pass the preliminary round will receive a one-time grant of Rs 50,000 each.

AASU president Utpal Sarma announced the project, named Pratyahwan, on Sunday as the preliminary exams began across the country. The funding is intended to help successful candidates access high-quality coaching, purchase test materials, and participate in mock interview sessions to prepare for the subsequent mains and personality tests.

Sarma explained that the project aims to increase the number of bureaucrats from Assam within the national administrative structure. By providing this support, the organization hopes to remove financial barriers that often hinder talented students from seeking advanced guidance during the critical final stages of the selection process.

The union remains committed to helping the state's youth succeed on the national stage. Sarma also called for public support to ensure the initiative succeeds in boosting Assamese representation in the civil services.
