Kohima: Zunheboto Government College joins forces with the Zunheboto Forest Division to kick off the Green Campus Initiative. The project begins August 12. It marks the first pilot under the Community Social Responsibility model, which debuted March 26 at the inaugural Satoi Connect Fest.
This framework swaps corporate mandates for civilian action. It relies on a people-centric approach to build collective responsibility. Organizers define the mission with a clear mantra: "We Before Me." They want individuals, villages, and schools to donate time and skills to public welfare instead of waiting on government agencies.
The plan targets specific environmental goals. The college will execute green audits, plant trees, and track biodiversity. Teams will also manage waste segregation and energy conservation while cutting down on single-use plastics. Officials want to turn students into leaders who bring these sustainability habits back to their own homes.
Success here could set a trend. Organizers hope other civil society groups and government offices across the district pick up the model next. Everyone from alumni and village heads to the general public is invited to the official launch event at the college grounds.
